Representation

Any representation is a mixture of:

1. The thing itself
2. The opinions if the people constructing the representation
3. The reaction of the individual to the representation
4. The context of the society in which the representation is taking place.  

Nicki Minaj is represented as extremely confident, she was around in small outfits and always wears tight costumes in her videos reflecting her self confidence. However this can be contrasted as she has previously had plastic surgery which may present her as insecure. 

Star image

A stars image becomes readily recognised sign that is used in many different media forma. Stars can us the fact that their image has meaning by allowing it to be used for advertising purposes.

A pop star is a manufactured image and does not correlate to a persons personality behind the image.
